Butiá

Project designed for “O Butiá”, located in Viamão, RS, on the shores of Lake Guaíba. The project aims to create leisure, contemplation and relaxation areas, which includes a complex of 13 cabins, a lounge, bar, restaurant, marina and event space.

The architectural form of the buildings is inspired by the composition of planes, represented by large granite blocks, or by wood. The project aims to create spacious environments that make the most of the view of the Guaíba, a constant feature of the complex’s landscape.

The project prioritizes the use of locally available natural materials in all its typologies: eucalyptus wood and pink granite. The use of these materials aims to highlight their textures and nuances of color and shade, especially at sunset on the Guaíba.

The implementation of the different typologies seeks to preserve local nature, integrating harmoniously with the environment and the changing water level of Lake Guaíba.

The Marina, which forms a kind of small canal, is bordered by tree-lined slopes and stone walls, and features table areas at intermediate levels.

Access to the complex is via a large, winding deck that follows the ascent from the parking lot to the buildings and opens between the restaurant and hotel reception buildings.

The complex is spatially divided into three main cores: Events, Restaurant, and Hospitality.

From the reception area, a long elevated deck guides guests through a dense vegetation mass to the buildings of the private use areas and the cabins.

The positioning of the cabins benefits from an unobstructed view of the lake and direct access to the beach area.

The vegetation mass provides guests with maximum privacy and contact with nature.

The external deck, visually shielded by the side walls, offers a seating area with a direct relationship to the lake.

Access to the cabins is through a deck that crosses an internal private patio, visually shielded by landscaping.

The units accommodate a couple plus one additional guest.

The design prioritizes the use of locally available materials and explores their textures.
